There are a wide variety of disasters that could befall us these days, some natural and some man made. Is it possible for us to be prepared for what may come? The answer is yes, however for some it seems an insurmountable task. So many in todays society are struggling just to make ends meet. If you are included in this group you may be asking yourself the question: "I'm barely making it with what I have, how can I afford to get extra?." There are a few tricks that you can do. For one you need to be frugle when you shop. Find the best deals and dont buy things you dont need. Keep a list of what you use. The next time you go shopping, purchase one more than you used. For example: If you used three cans of corn buy 4 and so on and so on. Now if there are items in your pantry that just seem to sit there and never get used, get rid of them and get what you will use. This is another use for the list I mentioned before. If you are writing down what you use you will be able to see what your family actually eats. If you catch a great sale then get several and focus on another area, but always replace what you use. There are dollar stores out there where you can get many items very cheap. I make it a habbit in these places to get medical supplies and other multi-use items. When it comes to equipment, garage sales and flee markets along with second hand stores ie GoodWill, can yield some great finds. Always shop the clearance isles for anything usable. The key factor is to loose the idea that you have to do this all at once. Slow and steady gets the job done. Looking for the opurtunity to get it all done in a hurry will most likely cause you to get nowhere.
